There is nothing more exuberant than a beautiful flower – except perhaps a cluster of them, or an entire bush or tree. Here in Washington State, the magnificent rhododendron reigns supreme. Strong and hardy in the shade of towering conifers, these spectacular plants have become treasured favorites in my gardens. I’ve lived in many zones in the U.S. and abroad, left quite a few gardens behind, and I must say that the temperate zone of the Pacific Northwest has been the absolute best for raising stunning flowers. Here are a few of the coolest rhodies residing in my gardens. The original designers and human hybridizing artisans have really outdone themselves with these babies. Enjoy!
