Review: Progeny, Prequel Short Story
Lone human in a world gone robotic.
This prequel is a fascinating introduction to the YA Quantum Gate series. Arista is a young girl who wakes up in a field without any memory of her life or how she got there. A kind man finds her and takes her home to his wife, but both adults have a bizarre reaction to the child and as the story unfolds, we come to learn that they are robotic replications of humans in a world where artificial intelligence has eradicated their creators.
The three characters were quite likable and I found it curious that Arista was able to mentally tap into banks of knowledge, making me curious to find out her background and underlying story. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic stories of AI vs. human, then this series may be an excellent find.
